Speaker:into the latest marketing trends, tools, and tips, and provide you with
Speaker:the top resources you need to thrive and make your marketing mesmerizing.
Speaker:And now here's your host Dimple.
Speaker:Dang.
Speaker:Happy New Year.
Speaker:Happy 2023.
Speaker:My MES Rising Marketing Tribe.
Speaker:Today's episode is really timely for the new year, we're gonna be talking about
Speaker:skip the year's resolutions and level up for 2023 with a solid plan for success.
Speaker:How many times have you made New Year's resolutions?
Speaker:Only to find out that it's not even the end of January and you have not been
Speaker:able to keep any of your resolutions.
Speaker:Does that sound familiar?
Speaker:I'm sure you're shaking your head with a yes.
Speaker:So here's the issue with that.
Speaker:One is you cannot make resolutions.
Speaker:You really have to make goals.
Speaker:and if you listen to my episode from a year ago, I will link it about why people
Speaker:don't keep their New Year's resolutions.
Speaker:That'll give you a little bit more perspective on that, but today
Speaker:I'm really focusing on helping you guys level up for 2023.
Speaker:with a solid plan for success.
Speaker:Okay?
Speaker:And that's really important because you know, it's the new year.
Speaker:And with the new year come lots of new opportunities.
Speaker:And also there's gonna be challenges, and that is just part of life, right?
Speaker:So what you have to do is you have to prepare yourself to handle
Speaker:anything that comes your way.
Speaker:And really just be prepared.
Speaker:Right?
Speaker:And that is part of leveling up.
Speaker:And for those of you who have probably heard the term leveling
Speaker:up, but just to really.
Speaker:Dumb it down and just say what is exactly leveling up mean?
Speaker:Well, basically it's a metaphor that's used to describe personal or
Speaker:professional growth or development.
Speaker:And it can refer to acquiring new skills, knowledge, experiences,
Speaker:anything that's gonna help you improve or advance in some way.
Speaker:And there's many different ways that you can level up in your.
Speaker:We're gonna talk about some of those in a moment, but what I really want
Speaker:you to do is as you go into 2023, don't do things just because you think that
Speaker:that's what you're supposed to do.
Speaker:Don't jump into that whole societal norm of like, oh, you're supposed
Speaker:to make resolutions, so you're just gonna make them because you
Speaker:feel like you have to listen.
Speaker:You don't have to do anything you don't want to.
Speaker:And part of going into 2023 with confidence is really owning the
Speaker:freedom to live your life the way that you want to live it, right?
Speaker:And that is a whole part of the leveling of process, is that you need
Speaker:to take accountability for yourself.
Speaker:You need to take accountability for your actions, and you need to have
Speaker:the courage to say no to things that don't align with your 2023.
Speaker:with the goals of your business, your brand, your personal relationships, and
Speaker:it is okay to leave those back in 2022.
Speaker:And this can apply to friendships.
Speaker:It can apply to jobs, it can apply to family members, it
Speaker:can apply to your baggage.
Speaker:your baggage is not allowed on flight 2020.
Speaker:You gotta leave that baggage back in 2022 because that baggage is something
Speaker:that is way heavy and it's gonna break you if you take it into 2023.
Speaker:So do not bring that baggage.
Speaker:It is not allowed on flight 2023.
Speaker:Flight 2023 is all about leveling up.
Speaker:, and that is why it rides in the sky.
Speaker:The airplane is going higher and higher as the altitude changes.
Speaker:And if that alt altitude is changing, you have to change
Speaker:to get yourself up there too.
Speaker:And that's why I am doing this episode today is to really help you guys level up.
Speaker:So let's talk a little bit about some ways that you can level up in your life.
Speaker:So just so you can get an idea of what I'm talking about here.
Speaker:One example of leveling up would be that you can improve your education
Speaker:or knowledge in a particular area.
Speaker:So that means you attend more workshops, seminars, you take some
Speaker:classes, or even study to learn about a subject that you're interested in.
Speaker:Because knowledge is power.
Speaker:The more knowledge you have, the more power you will have.
Speaker:So, remember,
Speaker:The next thing is developing new skills.
Speaker:So that means that maybe you've wanted to learn a new language or learn
Speaker:how to code or learn how to play the guitar, are the piano or dance?
Speaker:Develop new skills if there's something that you've always wanted to.
Speaker:. This is a year 2023.
Speaker:Do that thing.
Speaker:Do that thing.
Speaker:You want it to be in a music video.
Speaker:Go get that video.
Speaker:Go be in it.
Speaker:Okay?
Speaker:If you wanted to learn how to dance, go do it.
Speaker:You wanted to learn how to speak three languages.
Speaker:Go do it.
Speaker:It's yours for the taking.
Speaker:Right?
Speaker:another example of leveling up is, you know, career advancement.
Speaker:It could be getting promoted, it could be taking on more responsi.
Speaker:or maybe it can be even starting a new job, And on that same career
Speaker:trajectory, it could also be that maybe you're leaving your long-term career
Speaker:to go into entrepreneurship, right?
Speaker:But you're doing that because you are leveling up and you're positioning
Speaker:yourself to set yourself up for a life of success, of the life that you wanna build.
Speaker:Another example is to work on your personal.
Speaker:and that means you could be, working towards your personal goals by improving
Speaker:your physical health, your wellness, working on being stronger emotionally
Speaker:and also mentally, you know, having more of that resilience and that grip factor.
Speaker:Cuz that's, that's important.
Speaker:That's gonna get you through the year just because we're all
Speaker:like, oh, like today's actually January 2nd, I'm recording this.
Speaker:We're like excited about the year.
Speaker:, it's great, but there will be challenges.
Speaker:There's, gonna be things to overcome, and that's just part of life.
Speaker:But the more well prepared you are to handle those situations when they come up,
Speaker:and also to learn from those situations, the more success you're gonna see.
Speaker:So the ultimate goal to leveling up is to identify areas of your life that you
Speaker:wanna improve in or develop, and then you have to take consistent and focused
Speaker:action to make progress in those areas.
Speaker:Okay?
Speaker:So what you have to do is you're gonna have to determine how leveling up applies
Speaker:to different aspects of your life.
Speaker:And this can be in the categories of, business and career.
Speaker:That can be one category.
Speaker:Another category can be relationships, another category can be health.
Speaker:Another category can be, you know, education and development.
Speaker:And another category can be personal growth, right?
Speaker:So let me break this down for you guys.
Speaker:Let me give you guys a little bit more intel on this in terms of these things.
Speaker:So when it comes to career and business, what you need to do is you have to set.
Speaker:specific Measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals for your career.
Speaker:So the acronym for this is called smart, s m a r T, right?
Speaker:So specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals
Speaker:for your career and business.
Speaker:And that's what's gonna help you stay motivated and focused.
Speaker:And that's really.
Speaker:. Next thing when it comes to career and
Speaker:other people in your industry, right?
Speaker:And you want to learn about new opportunities and get you know,
Speaker:advice from people that are more experienced professionals.
Speaker:So instead of being intimidated by them, that they're your competition, actually
Speaker:look at them as someone that you can learn from because they are more experienced.
Speaker:They've been there, they've done that.
Speaker:Maybe they can give you a shortcut and they can save you from going through
Speaker:making the same mistakes that they made.
Speaker:The other thing that you should be doing is you should be learning new skills.
Speaker:It's important to keep up with the latest trends in your industry.
Speaker:And also to stay competitive by, you know, earning certifications or taking courses.
Speaker:So if you're in marketing, for example, you can get Google ad certified, and, and
Speaker:you can do that and you should do that.
Speaker:So those are some of the things that I'm talking about right now.
Speaker:. So when it comes to career and professional goals, one of the
Speaker:other things that's really important is to seek out new challenges.
Speaker:And that means that you can even volunteer for projects that are a little bit outside
Speaker:of your comfort zone, are even take on additional responsibilities at work.
Speaker:And that's really gonna help you grow and develop into your career.
Speaker:And if you are an entrepreneur, Again, you can seek out new challenges and
Speaker:do things that maybe you've never done before, and just try something new.
Speaker:So try to step out of your comfort zone once in a while because
Speaker:you'll find that it's really gonna help you grow as a person.
Speaker:And when you grow, that's when you're gonna up level and
Speaker:elevate in every part of your.
Speaker:Okay, so the next part of leveling up is going to be in the relationships
Speaker:department, so that means that.
Speaker:communicating openly and honestly with your loved ones, and that
Speaker:is really important because people are not mind readers.
Speaker:A lot of things that go wrong, they're all because of lack of communication.
Speaker:So whether it's with friends, whether it's with your husband, whether it's
Speaker:with your boyfriend or girlfriend, you really have to communicate
Speaker:and let them know what your needs.
Speaker:What your expectations are and also be open to listening to what's
Speaker:important to them and, and getting to know what their needs are.
Speaker:What do they expect out of that relationship?
Speaker:Then the other thing is you have to practice active listening, paying
Speaker:attention to what other people are saying, and actually asking questions to show them
Speaker:that you're engaged in the conversation.
Speaker:If someone's talking and they're sharing something that's really important to
Speaker:them, it's just courtesy to acknowledge what they are sharing by nodding, by
Speaker:looking at them in the eyes, not being distracted on your phone, and even
Speaker:repeating back part of what they said so they know that you are actually
Speaker:listening to what they're saying.
Speaker:And this one should go without say, but make time for the people that you care.
Speaker:and you might be busy, but if you are never too busy to make
Speaker:time, Everyone has the time.
Speaker:It's how you choose to spend your time.
Speaker:And if you can cut one thing out, that's not that important, you
Speaker:will have time to do more and with more for the people that you care.
Speaker:So set aside some dedicated time each week to spend time with your loved ones,
Speaker:whether it's going on a dinner date, having a game night, cooking dinner
Speaker:together, whatever it happens to be.
Speaker:Now this one, the next thing when it comes to relationships is really important.
Speaker:This is about practicing forgiveness, and for some people
Speaker:it's really hard for them to.
Speaker:But if you don't forgive, you're not able to move on.
Speaker:So stop holding a grudge because a grudge can damage a relationship, especially
Speaker:if the other person has apologized.
Speaker:Try to see it from their point of view and let go of those
Speaker:negative feelings and move on.
Speaker:At least if you wanna be in the relationship.
Speaker:That's how you can handle it.
Speaker:If you don't wanna be in the relationship, then.
Speaker:I guess it doesn't matter how you handle it, but if you are not
Speaker:willing to forgive in a relationship, that relationship will never work.
Speaker:So that's something to consider
Speaker:The next thing we're gonna talk about that is really part of up-leveling
Speaker:your life is to up-level your health.
Speaker:And that means that you can exercise regularly.
Speaker:You can shoot for at least 30 minutes of doing moderate to, intense
Speaker:physical activity each day, whether it's walking, jogging, running.
Speaker:maybe it's taking a class of aerobics or even doing yoga, but exercise is important
Speaker:also for your brain health and for giving you the serotonin that you need.
Speaker:The other thing, of course, when this is hard for a lot of people
Speaker:when they're busy, but again, you have the power to control your
Speaker:actions and to control your life.
Speaker:So eating a healthy.
Speaker:focus on getting, you know, foods out of your diet that are processed
Speaker:and that just are not healthy.
Speaker:be more aware and look at the label.
Speaker:Look at what you're buying at the grocery store before you put it in the cart,
Speaker:because if you're ordering something and it's got 60% sodium, and it's got all
Speaker:of these processed foods that are bad for you, then your body is gonna feel bad too.
Speaker:So make sure that you're looking for putting in vegetables solid
Speaker:protein resources and different types of fruits into your diet.
Speaker:and if you don't have time to eat a healthy diet, consider ordering from,
Speaker:you know, one of those places that you can get everything sent to you.
Speaker:It's healthy diet, healthy ingredients, and you just literally can whip
Speaker:up a meal in 15 to 20 minutes.
Speaker:The other thing is getting enough sleep when it pertains to your health.
Speaker:And this is something that a lot of people have just, abandoned is getting enough.
Speaker:. There are people I know that they work literally 20 hours a day
Speaker:and they sleep four hours a day and that's not really healthy.
Speaker:Like to be healthy, your body needs seven to nine hours of
Speaker:sleep to function at its best.
Speaker:, and maybe you're used to like six, but at least then you need that
Speaker:six hours, not four hours, right?
Speaker:So make sure that you are going to bed earlier so that you can get up earlier.
Speaker:You're not just idly sitting on TikTok at night for hours.
Speaker:Our social media, our clubhouse, you know, we know who we are.
Speaker:And just go to sleep because then when you wake up the next day, you
Speaker:wanna feel like you have the energy to do everything that needs to get.
Speaker:. The next thing when it comes to health is practicing stress management techniques
Speaker:because there will be stress in life.
Speaker:That's just part of life, but you need to know how you're gonna
Speaker:handle that stress, and that can be including activities like meditation.
Speaker:or yoga or deep breathing or having even just time for your own
Speaker:self-care, like going to the spa or turning your home into a spa.
Speaker:When you are turning on some candles with a aromatherapy, you're putting on
Speaker:a face mask, you are turning on some relaxing music and that's gonna help you
Speaker:get rid of the stress and reset your.
Speaker:All right, so the next part of leveling up is education, and that means that you
Speaker:should be setting specific goals to learn.
Speaker:You wanna decide what you want to learn about, and you wanna
Speaker:go about achieving that goal.
Speaker:And that's really, really important.
Speaker:And if you are, , I guess learning something.
Speaker:Let's say you're going to school for real estate or you're just
Speaker:taking some extra classes.
Speaker:You wanna find out what study method is gonna work best for you because
Speaker:some people like to work in quiet environments, and some people like
Speaker:to work in a noisy background.
Speaker:So for example, even if you're an employer and you're hiring someone,
Speaker:It's not for you to dictate to them what type of environment
Speaker:that they're gonna work best in.
Speaker:If they tell you that they need a quiet environment to really think,
Speaker:especially if they're doing tasks that require them to think and use their
Speaker:brain, then you should respect that and provide them with an environment
Speaker:that's conducive to their success.
Speaker:So that's something to think.
Speaker:. The other thing is it's also important to take breaks.
Speaker:So if you're doing something that's really mentally taxing, or maybe you just had
Speaker:a day that was really stressful, you wanna give your brain a chance to rest.
Speaker:Process all the information, take a break, and you just need to know
Speaker:when to say, okay, I'm not doing anything else today that requires too
Speaker:much brain energy because I need to actually soak in everything that I've
Speaker:learned and I don't want to overdo it.
Speaker:And that's like your call to draw that line when that.
Speaker:All right.
Speaker:The other thing is to seek out new learning opportunities, right?
Speaker:So take a course or a workshop and learn a new skill or subject.
Speaker:You never know when that new skill or subject is actually going to
Speaker:make you money, and you're gonna be able to use that as a second source
Speaker:of income, especially you never.
Speaker:Layoffs can happen.
Speaker:They're happening all the time.
Speaker:You know, clients can cancel, a lot of things can happen.
Speaker:So you wanna be well-equipped with the skills that you need to make money.
Speaker:All right.
Speaker:The other thing we're gonna talk about is personal.
Speaker:It's important to really reflect on your personal values and your goals and take
Speaker:the time, you know, take the time as we're starting off 2023 to really think
Speaker:about what's really important to you and what you want to achieve in life.
Speaker:And part of that too means that it's important to practice mindfulness,
Speaker:and that means paying attention to the present moment and being
Speaker:aware of your thoughts and feeling.
Speaker:And if you have a bad habit of being snippy with people, well catch yourself
Speaker:by practicing that mindfulness when you're doing it to say, why am I doing this?
Speaker:This is something that I need to work on for 2023 and part of Upleveling my life.
Speaker:And that's part of it.
Speaker:Because if you can sit down and can say, these are my positive
Speaker:characteristics, these are my.
Speaker:Characteristics and you can take those negatives and you can put a plan
Speaker:together, an action plan to really work on that part of yourself, cuz
Speaker:that's what's truly gonna make you a better person at the end of the year.
Speaker:And sometimes it's taking criticism from other people and taking that feedback
Speaker:and instead of being offended by it, just take it for what it is and really
Speaker:just try to improve that in yourself.
Speaker:If you.
Speaker:, and this one I always say is very, very important.
Speaker:A part of like, you know, growing personally is really taking care
Speaker:of yourself first and foremost, and making time for self-care.
Speaker:A lot of people get burnt out because they don't make time for
Speaker:self-care, and you have to do that.
Speaker:. Whether you go exercise, you do meditation, you go to the spa, you
Speaker:take a relaxing bubble bath, you have to take time for self-care.
Speaker:Even listening to music while taking a walk for 30 minutes
Speaker:is going to be self-care time.
Speaker:So always remember to take time for self-care.
Speaker:Now this one is really important too.
Speaker:As far as personal growth as learning from your past experiences, right?
Speaker:So you wanna reflect on both your successes and also the challenges that
Speaker:you faced, and you wanna use both of those things as opportunities to learn and grow.
Speaker:because if you had certain challenges and you were able to
Speaker:overcome those challenges, that's a great learning experience.
Speaker:Not just for you, but a learning experience that you can share with
Speaker:other people to help them grow, right?
Speaker:And if you were successful, that's also learning experience to know
Speaker:what you did to get to that success.
Speaker:And can you duplicate it?
Speaker:Can you replicate it?
Speaker:Can you teach someone else how to do it?
Speaker:Because if you can go teach someone else how to do that, they're gonna pay.
Speaker:and you're gonna be even more successful.
Speaker:And you know what?
Speaker:Leveling up is not just about achieving external goals or metrics, but it's
Speaker:also about becoming a better, more fulfilled and more impactful person.
Speaker:. So now I wanna talk about some key factors that can help you level up.
Speaker:So, first of all, like I said, it's important to set clear, specific and
Speaker:achievable goals for leveling up.
Speaker:We're not setting resolutions in 2023 guys, we are setting clear,
Speaker:specific and achievable goals.
Speaker:The other thing is
Speaker:It's really important to identify obstacles and setbacks that are
Speaker:gonna keep you from leveling up, and some of those things can include.
Speaker:having a lack of motivation or having a lack of skills, or having
Speaker:a lack of resources or support.
Speaker:The good news is all of those things are fixable because you can have motivation
Speaker:if you don't currently have it.
Speaker:You can gain more skills if you don't have them.
Speaker:Resources are abundant if you know where to look for them.
Speaker:Support is all is available if you ask for it, so do not sit back and do nothing.
Speaker:go after what you need.
Speaker:And if you're not the type of person to ask for help, well make this the
Speaker:first year that you do ask for help and see where you end up in 2024 as
Speaker:a result of asking for help in 2023.
Speaker:Do the things that you haven't done before to achieve the success.
Speaker:If you keep doing the same thing you did over and over, you're
Speaker:gonna get the same results, right?
Speaker:So do something different.
Speaker:and if you really wanna level up, you have to be willing to have a mentor, a coach.
Speaker:You have to be willing to take courses, go to events, go networking, and be willing
Speaker:to get feedback on your business, your brand, whatever it is that you're doing.
Speaker:Those are all important things, and what you have to do is you really
Speaker:have to adopt a growth mindset.
Speaker:And have a attitude of learning that is continuous and you have to
Speaker:be open to change and challenges as opportunities to level up.
Speaker:Let me say that again.
Speaker:You have to be open to change and challenges as opportunities to level up.
Speaker:The other thing that I wanna talk about, you know, that's really important.
Speaker:The whole leveling up for 2023 is that, . You really have to have
Speaker:resilience and grit and perseverance, and you have to know how to cultivate
Speaker:these qualities and use them.
Speaker:And if you don't know how to best, use.
Speaker:, the grit, emotional grit, and you know, the resilience and be resilient.
Speaker:All of these things.
Speaker:I'm gonna give you guys a couple of book recommendations that I think are
Speaker:amazing and you know, that's part of it is like part of Upleveling yourself
Speaker:is you should be reading more books.
Speaker:So all these books that I'm gonna recommend.
Speaker:in the show notes, I'm gonna link them to my Amazon store.
Speaker:So feel free to click on the link and it'll take you directly to that book.
Speaker:But I wanna tell you a little bit of background about each book, right?
Speaker:So the first book I'm gonna talk about is called Grit the Power of Passion
Speaker:and Perseverance by Angela Duckworth.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:And this book talks about the importance of grit or the combination of passion
Speaker:and perseverance in achieving long-term.
Speaker:and Angela argues that grit is a better predictor of success than intelligence.
Speaker:Our talent.
Speaker:and she also provides practical tips on how to cultivate grit
Speaker:in yourself and in others.
Speaker:So I would absolutely recommend this book.
Speaker:Then the other book I would recommend is called Mindset, the New
Speaker:Psychology of Success by Carol Dweck.
Speaker:And this book explores the concept of a fixed versus a growth mindset,
Speaker:and how one's mindset can affect their ability to achieve their.
Speaker:A fixed mindset is the belief that one's abilities are fixed and cannot be changed.
Speaker:While a growth mindset is the belief that one's abilities can be developed through
Speaker:effort and learning, and Carol argues that adopting a growth mindset is crucial for
Speaker:developing grit and achieving success.
Speaker:I absolutely agree with that.
Speaker:So definitely check out that book as well.
Speaker:Again, it's gonna be linked in the show notes, you can link and you can
Speaker:directly go to Amazon to get the book.
Speaker:The other book that I would recommend is called The Resilience Factor
Speaker:Seven Keys to Finding Your Inner Strength and Overcoming Life's.
Speaker:And this is by Karen Reich and Andrew Chate it's gonna be in the show notes.
Speaker:Okay.
Speaker:And this book provides a practical and science-based approach to developing
Speaker:resilience, including the tools and techniques for managing stress,
Speaker:managing your emotions and challenges, and finding meaning and purpose in.
Speaker:Another book that you probably have heard about, and you may have even read this
Speaker:one previously, but it doesn't hurt to go back and reread books again and this one.
Speaker:The success principles, how to get from where you are to where
Speaker:you want to be by Jack Canfield.
Speaker:And this book talks about a set of principles and strategies for
Speaker:achieving success in any area of life, including goal setting, decision
Speaker:making, action taking, and overall just developing a positive attitude.
Speaker:And it also includes exercise and examples to help you apply
Speaker:these principles to your own.
Speaker:Another book I would recommend is called The Compound Effect Jumpstart
Speaker:Your Income, your Life, your Success, and this is by Darren Hardy.
Speaker:And this book talks about how small, consistent actions and.
Speaker:Can lead to significant and lasting results over time.
Speaker:it uses a metaphor of the compound effect, and this one provides practical
Speaker:tips and techniques for building good habits and breaking bad ones for creating
Speaker:a positive and productive mindset.
Speaker:All right, the next book, you know, Tony Robbins, gotta Love Tony Robbins.
Speaker:I have read this book before.
Speaker:I know I need to read it again, so I'm gonna add it to the list
Speaker:cuz I will probably be reading it when you guys are reading it.
Speaker:But this one is Awaken the Giant Within How to Take Immediate Control
Speaker:of Your Mental, emotional, physical, and Financial Destiny by Tony Robbins.
Speaker:And this is really a self-help classic book that offers a wide range
Speaker:of techniques and strategies for improving your life and achieving.
Speaker:Including being more motivated, communicating better, having
Speaker:better relationships, having good health and wealth.
Speaker:And the book is actually known for its energetic and inspirational
Speaker:style with an emphasis on taking action and making changes.
Speaker:All right, so another book is, The Power of Now and Guide to Spiritual
Speaker:Enlightenment by Eckhart Toll.
Speaker:And this book teaches the importance of living in the present moment and
Speaker:how to let go of negative thoughts and emotions so that you can experience
Speaker:inner peace and fulfillment.
Speaker:And this book uses spiritual and philosophical concepts and practices
Speaker:to help its readers find their true selves and connect with the world
Speaker:in a deeper and more meaningful.
Speaker:Now this book, I have to say, would be great if you are creating a business
Speaker:or brand too, that you wanna have an actual purpose to, a meaning to.
Speaker:I would highly recommend to read this book
Speaker:and this book that I'm gonna recommend.
Speaker:I have actually read this before as well, but it was a while back and it is.
Speaker:The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, powerful Lessons in
Speaker:Personal Change by Steven Kobe.
Speaker:And this book's a bestseller that presents a set of habits that can
Speaker:help people become more effective and successful in both their
Speaker:personal and professional lives.
Speaker:And habits are organized around a principle centered.
Speaker:. That includes being proactive, setting goals, prioritizing,
Speaker:and communicating effectively.
Speaker:All right.
Speaker:I've got a couple of other books I would recommend too.
Speaker:And this one I don't think I've read, but oh my god, it sounds amazing.
Speaker:So I'm gonna be reading this for sure.
Speaker:So this one is called.
Speaker:No excuses, the Power of Self-Discipline by Brian Tracy.
Speaker:And this book discusses a role of self-discipline in achieving success
Speaker:and also overcoming obstacle goals.
Speaker:And it provides techniques and strategies for developing
Speaker:self-discipline in various areas of life.
Speaker:Including time management goals, habits and emotions.
Speaker:And this book emphasizes the importance of taking responsibility, making
Speaker:decisions, taking action, and it also offers inspirational examples of
Speaker:people who have achieved their goals through having more self-discipline.
Speaker:All right, couple more books to go that are on my list.
Speaker:The obstacle is a.
Speaker:, the Timeless Art of Turning Trials into Triumph by Ryan Holliday.
Speaker:So this book draws on the philosophy of doism and real life examples to
Speaker:show how adversity and obstacles can be turned into opportunities and strengths.
Speaker:This is huge, you guys, because if you can take any adversity and
Speaker:turn that into an opportunity, , then you're gonna always win.
Speaker:Even through your challenges, you're always gonna win.
Speaker:So I highly recommend this book.
Speaker:So it teaches people how to embrace challenges, right?
Speaker:Overcome adversity, and cultivate a resilient mindset by using principles
Speaker:of perception, action, and will
Speaker:so when it comes to upleveling for 2023, you don't need resolutions, skip those.
Speaker:What you need as a solid plan for success and by having a plan is like upleveling
Speaker:yourself in every area of your life.
Speaker:So what you need to do is make these categories.
Speaker:This is what you do.
Speaker:You're gonna get out a notebook and you're gonna put the first category.
Speaker:career in business and you're gonna talk about for career in business,
Speaker:what is your plan for success?
Speaker:How are you gonna uplevel in those areas?
Speaker:What are you gonna do differently?
Speaker:What skills do you wanna learn?
Speaker:What challenges do you wanna seek out?
Speaker:What do you wanna try that you haven't tried before?
Speaker:Then the second thing is you're gonna write down in
Speaker:the notebook is relationships.
Speaker:And you're gonna talk about, you know, which type of relationships you want to.
Speaker:and how you're gonna improve them.
Speaker:You're gonna talk about what you're gonna do differently than you have not
Speaker:done in the past, and you're gonna talk about how you're gonna make time for the
Speaker:people that you care about and how are you going to put that on the calendar?
Speaker:What's the schedule for that?
Speaker:How are you're gonna practice forgiveness?
Speaker:All those things.
Speaker:Then the next category is health.
Speaker:So you wanna evaluate where your health is right now and where you want
Speaker:it to be, and you want to determine what you need to do to see a differe.
Speaker:, do you need to get better sleep?
Speaker:Do you need to eat healthier?
Speaker:Do you need to cut out smoking?
Speaker:Do you need to start exercising?
Speaker:Do you need to do stress management techniques?
Speaker:Whatever it is, write it down.
Speaker:Figure out a plan, know what you're gonna do.
Speaker:The next category is education and learning.
Speaker:So find out what you want to learn about this.
Speaker:Whether it's going back to school, whether it's getting your mba, whether it's just
Speaker:taking an online course or being part of some community where you're gonna learn
Speaker:about how to do something, and really just write that down too and figure out a plan.
Speaker:And then the next category's gonna be personal growth and development.
Speaker:So that's where you're gonna reflect on your personal values and your goals.
Speaker:And you're gonna, you know, make time to take care of yourself.
Speaker:You're gonna practice that mindfulness, you're going to
Speaker:reflect from the past challenges and learn from your experiences,
Speaker:and that's really important as well.
Speaker:So I think this is a lot of information I've shared that and can really just help
Speaker:you get started on your journey to having.
Speaker:An amazing 2023 where you are leveling up with a solid plan for success for 2023.
